TEMPE, Ariz., July 27, 2026 -- Amkor Technology, a leading provider of semiconductor packaging and test services, has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2026. The company reported net sales of $1.8 billion for the period ending June 30, a modest increase from the $1.75 billion recorded in the same quarter last year. This growth was driven by steady demand in the automotive and communications end markets, partially offset by a softer performance in the consumer and computing segments.
Gross profit for the quarter came in at $320 million, representing a gross margin of 17.8%. While this margin was slightly below the 18.2% reported in the first quarter of 2026, management attributed the dip to higher startup costs associated with new production lines in Vietnam and Portugal. Net income for the quarter was $95 million, or $0.38 per diluted share, compared to $102 million, or $0.41 per share, in the same period a year ago.
"We are pleased with our top-line performance, which reflects the resilience of our diversified portfolio," said Giel Rutten, Amkor's president and CEO. "Our investments in advanced packaging technologies continue to gain traction, particularly in the automotive sector where demand for chips remains robust."
Looking ahead, the company provided guidance for the third quarter of 2026, forecasting net sales in the range of $1.85 billion to $1.95 billion. Amkor also expects gross margins to improve slightly as production efficiencies ramp up. The company ended the quarter with cash and short-term investments of $1.2 billion, providing a solid liquidity position for ongoing capital expenditures.
