At the Snowflake Summit 26 conference, Josh Nash, who now leads cybersecurity and data governance at the bank, shared details on how Camden National moved from testing artificial intelligence tools to running them in full production. The shift resulted in a 250 percent increase in the output of analytic data products, a figure that surprised even the internal team.
Nash explained that the bank started with small AI pilots focused on specific reporting tasks. Once those proved reliable, the team scaled them across departments. The key was not just better software but a change in how data teams worked. Instead of building one-off reports, they created reusable data products that could serve multiple business lines at once. That cut down on duplication and sped up decision-making for loan officers and risk managers.
The production rollout also forced Camden National to tighten its data governance. Nash said the bank had to build clearer rules on who could access what data and how AI models were validated. He now oversees both cybersecurity and data governance, a combination he says makes sense because AI output is only as trustworthy as the data feeding it.
While Nash did not share exact revenue figures tied to the increase, he noted that faster analytics have helped the bank respond to customer needs more quickly and spot potential fraud earlier. The next step, he said, is expanding the use of AI into more customer-facing services, but only after the bank is confident in its data controls.
